Learning English is a difficult process, so here’s an excerpt of our ebook 21 Ways to Jumpstart Your English Skills to help you as you learn.
Set Realistic Expectations
Think:
I’m sorry to have to tell you this, but you are not going to be fluent overnight. Learning a language takes time. Hard work and motivation play huge roles in language learning, but no matter how hard you work, you will still have to “wait”. Any program that promises that you’ll be fluent in “30 days or less” is just trying to sell you something. Because language learning takes time, some people can become frustrated when they aren’t seeing the instant results they were expecting. Don’t let that be you!
The key to overcoming frustration is to have patience with yourself and recognize that taking one step at a time is the only way to learn a language. Truthfully, you are just scratching the surface of a language after a month or two. The most healthy motto to adopt when you’re frustrated is, “Language learning is a process.” You’ll be a much happier person throughout your language learning journey if that’s your attitude.
Act:
Write down what the expectations you have in improving your English.
Now that you have made your list, which of these expectations are realistic? Which are unrealistic?
Write out concrete steps that will help you work toward achieving your goals.

This article is very good, because I can feel identified. When I stared the esl, I was frustrated, because I felt that I wasn’t learning anything, and of curse because I missed my country, but when I changed my mind and I thought that learning English was what I wanted, I can improve my English and now, I fell more sure is myself and my English.
It’s a constant struggle of perseverance! I used to feel the same way when I was learning Spanish. 🙂
